Tale of Two Cities

The impact crater left behind when LeBron James dropped LeBomb on Cleveland is a prime example of the immense amount of influence one person can wield. This one man’s decision to switch zip codes makes a tremendous impact on the citizens of two entire cities and regions. That’s a whole lot of responsibility. I respect LeBron James and admire his gifts and talent. No one can argue with his draw and appeal. He’s a consummate athlete who plays with heart and passion and he’s fun to watch. No doubt he took everything into consideration and is doing what he feels is best. I wish LeBron good luck.
Most of us don’t have nearly the sphere of influence that LeBron commands. But you don’t need to be a mega-icon to recognize that your decisions do have a lasting effect. Our responsibility is to know that every decision– from the simple and mundane, to life-changing events - impacts our friends, family and the environment we live in.
We can’t always foresee the consequences of our decisions. But what I am proposing is that every decision in life, however large or small, should be entered into with mindfulness: centered around universal consciousness versus a singular consciousness. The effect of those decisions shifts our vantage point and is more likely to be favorable.
Many people ask me, “How do I know what consciousness I am making the decision with?” My response is that when your perspective changes to protect the well-being of your universe, the results of your decisions will benefit your entire eco-system. Think big picture. Expand the scope of your own well-being to include that of your surroundings. Recognize the actions and decisions that are collectively beneficial. The rest will take care of itself.
