Losing Focus

A recent article in Newsweek concerning climate change is about the idea that climate scientists are playing loose with the facts. They did more damage to the profession than to the planet. But that’s completely missing the point!
You go to China and you can’t breathe the air. With coal and fossil fuels there is no question we are damaging our climate. Whether it is 1 degree a year or .5 degrees there is no question that manmade actions are causing damage to our world.
In recent months polling shows around 40% of people believe climate change is a manmade problem. There is no question that we can’t be doing to the environment what we are doing to it. It’s not OK to spew emissions. It’s not OK to build and use and throw away without thinking of what it means for the environment.
The whole PR against climate change is because they disagree about the numbers but the bottom line is it’s about our damaged environment. Something should be done. We can’t be dumping in the ocean and creating floating islands of garbage. We have to balance making stuff and how emissions are effecting the world.
