HaitiHaiti

We could probably sit around thinking of reasons why Haiti got hit.  What with the crippling hurricanes of the recent past, already people have started doing it.  But this is the time time to pray for the people, not to ask why it happened.

Haiti was already the poorest country in the western hemisphere.  With a population around 9 million, hundreds of thousands are feared dead.  Millions are estimated to be homeless.  Eye witness accounts say every building has damage.

Tiny bodies of schoolchildren are in piles next to their schools rubble.

People covered in dust are walking around with open wounds and no one to treat them.  There is no place for them to go.

Those that have survived are dealing with the loss of loved ones, missing family and friends - and they have nothing; no homes to go to, no place to eat or shower, little or no food.  The devastation is massive.

Can you feel the pain these people are going through right now as you read this?  Can you imagine?

It’s not a time to ask why Haiti, but it is a time to pray for Haiti.  We shouldn’t spend our energy asking why, we should ask what we could do, how we can help.
